A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) is an undergraduate degree program that prepares students to become occupational therapists. The program typically takes four years to complete and covers a broad range of topics related to human anatomy and physiology, human development, psychology, and occupational therapy theory and practice.
During the course of their studies, students will learn how to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, and how to develop treatment plans to help them improve their daily living skills and occupational performance. They will also learn how to use adaptive equipment and assistive technology to help patients overcome physical and cognitive challenges.
Upon graduation, students may pursue a wide range of careers in occupational therapy, including in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, mental health clinics, and private practice. They may work with patients of all ages and backgrounds, from children with developmental disabilities to seniors recovering from stroke or other injuries. The degree can also provide a foundation for advanced study in occupational therapy or related fields, such as physical therapy, speech therapy, or social work.
