Course Description

Nursing is a field that encompasses a wide range of specialties and roles. Here are a few examples of how nursing can be practiced in different ways:

1. Acute care nursing: Acute care nurses work in hospitals and other healthcare settings to provide care to patients who have acute or severe illnesses or injuries. They may work in specialties such as emergency care, intensive care, or surgical nursing.

2. Community health nursing: Community health nurses work in public health settings to provide education, health promotion, and disease prevention services to individuals, families, and communities. They may work in areas such as school health, community clinics, or home health care.

3. Nurse practitioner: Nurse practitioners are advanced practice nurses who have earned additional education and training in order to diagnose and treat patients, prescribe medications, and order and interpret diagnostic tests. They may work in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, and private practices.

4. Occupational health nursing: Occupational health nurses work with employers to promote workplace safety and health. They may provide education and training to employees, conduct health screenings, and manage workplace injuries and illnesses.

5. Pediatric nursing: Pediatric nurses specialize in providing care to children from birth to adolescence. They may work in hospitals, clinics, or schools, and may have additional training in areas such as neonatal care or pediatric oncology.
