Course Description

Prepare yourself for employment in the merchant navy on vessels of any size, operating anywhere in the world. This programme is a significant part of the Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) training requirements for students to gain the internationally recognised Standards of Training and Certification of Watchkeepers (STCW) Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Class 3 certificate of competency/the domestic Class 4 certificate of competency.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility

12th : No specific cutoff mentioned Applicant must have passed high school
TOEFL : Marks - 60/120 Writing score of 20.
PTE : Marks - 50/90.
IELTS : Marks - 6/9 With no band score lower than 5.5.

Other eligibility criteria : Training record book, There is no arranged work-based training within this programme. However students must have completed their Marine Engineering Training Record Book (TAR book) prior to attend the block course. This TAR book is presented to the Maritime New Zealand Examiner prior to the final Oral Examination Prior to attending the FFT511 and SSC511 courses, applicants must provide: a medical certificate or other acceptable medical certificate, not more than two years old at the time of attending the FFT511 Advanced Fire Fighting Course, and the SSC511 Proficiency in Survival Craft course Recommended that applicants should be aware that they should meet the full MNZ seatime, medical, and eyesight requirements prior to commencing this programme.
