Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is the largest public Tertiary Education Institution at the Top of the South Island in New Zealand, it was formerly known as the Nelson Technical School, and it was established in the year 1904. Formerly, it offered courses like plumbing, commerce, craft, secretarial and engineering. It formed a merger with the Nelson College in 1930, giving way to providing several more and new vocational and part-time courses to its students. It was only in 1971, that Nelson Polytechnic became an independent technical institute. NMIT's main campus is in Nelson with other campuses in Blenheim, Marlborough, Woodbourne and Richmond. NMIT offers 100 programmes at certificate, diploma or degree level across a broad range of areas and has a yearly enrollment of around 3,000 equivalent full-time students, locally, nationally and internationally. NMIT is an NZQA approved Category 1 tertiary education provider and ISO 9001 certified. The Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) offers two scholarships to international students, namely the NZ$3000 Bachelor's Degree Scholarship and English Language Pathway Scholarships.
