Course Description

Mechanical engineering uses mechanics and energy principles to design, research, develop and manufacture tools, engines, motors and other devices. At the University of Waikato’s Mechanical Engineering programme, students will learn what the university requires. The programme is strongly based on project-based learning and combines mechanical engineering, science and mathematics papers to give students a good understanding of engineering theory and practice. Students will study topics such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility

12th : 75% Applicants must have achieved an overall average of 75% in the Indian School Certificate (ISC), or the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC), with a minimum of 70% in English, or; An overall average of 80% in Senior School Certificate awarded from one of the following three Indian State Board year 12 qualifications: (i) Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), (ii) Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Higher (Secondary) School Certificate; (iii) Karnataka Pre-University Certificate, with Minimum of 75% in English Subjects required: Mathematics with Calculus and Physics.
TOEFL : Marks - 80/120 80 with a score of 21 in writing.
PTE : Marks - 50/90 with no PTE communicative skills below 42.
IELTS : Marks - 6/9 With no band less than 5.5.
