Aeronautical engineering is concerned with how aeroplanes are designed, built, and propelled, as well as how they are utilised and managed for safe operation. During year 5 of the MEng, students will participate in practical laboratories, including performing a jet engine test and a flight-testing course in a Saab 340B aircraft. On an actual aircraft project, aeronautical group design projects are carried out in partnership with BAe Systems. Students have access to the UK National Wind Tunnel Facility's state-of-the-art experimental facilities. Students in their final year will spend six months working in the industry, at an international institution, or in University of Glasgow research facilities. The Royal Aeronautical Society has accredited the programme, and it is now being re-accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
