This course allows students to learn two main topics: programming and artificial intelligence (AI). Students will also study project management and research methodologies in order to get the intellectual rigour required for postgraduate studies as well as the practical skills needed for entrance into the industry. Teesside has a track record of successful computer science research, consultancy, and enterprise initiatives, providing faculty with relevant real-world case studies to draw on in their teaching. Many of the university's academic personnel have worked in the industry and have developed good working connections with industry colleagues. The programming strand provides students with knowledge and abilities in event-driven programming, patterns, design, development, and deployment using industry-standard tools. The AI research strand looks at computer models, simulations, and approaches for observing and predicting behaviour in large-scale systems. The project management module complements the practical and theoretical skills with strategies for strategic project management, preparing students for the whole project life cycle. Individual computer science projects and the Advanced Practice (Internship) module allow students to use their practical and theoretical abilities in their chosen specialisation while also gaining real-world experience in industry or research.
