Bond University

Bond University, located in Robina, Queensland, is Australia's first private non-profit university. Bond University was founded and funded in 1987 by Mr Alan Bond, chairman of the Australian-based Bond Corporation, and Mr Harunori Takahashi and Dr Taro Tanioka, president of the Japanese-based Electronics and Industrial Enterprises International (EIE), in a joint venture to manage the land and build the university's buildings. On April 23, 1987, the Queensland government passed the Bond University Act, granting Bond University the status of an independent tertiary institution. Bond University welcomed its first cohort of 322 students on May 15, 1989, at its brand new, state-of-the-art campus on Queensland's Gold Coast. The vision for Australia's first private, not-for-profit university was to provide an exclusive educational experience of the highest international standards, under the tutelage of the country's leading academics, modelled after the traditions of the world's most elite educational institutions. The university is ranked 20th in the Times Higher Education (THE) list of the World's Best Small Universities. Admission is handled by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre and is based on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

The university is divided into four faculties that support both research and teaching-

  • Faculty of Business
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine
  • Faculty of Society and Design
