The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is an Australian public research institution that was founded in 1890 on the island of Tasmania. It is the country's fourth oldest university. The University of Tasmania is a sandstone university with a 130-year history that belongs to the International Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of areas and collaborates with 20 specialised research institutes and co-operative research centres.
