University of Tasmania

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is an Australian public research institution that was founded in 1890 on the island of Tasmania. It is the country's fourth oldest university. The University of Tasmania is a sandstone university with a 130-year history that belongs to the International Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of areas and collaborates with 20 specialised research institutes and co-operative research centres. UTAS is one of the state's largest employers, and it aspires to be a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace.

 

The university includes three main campuses in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie, as well as numerous tiny, specialised facilities within the College of Health and Medicine at its Sydney sites in Darlinghurst and Rozelle. It also has a cooperative research facility at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Pyrmont, which is located in the city. Campus Information

Hobart is the epitome of a city living on the outskirts of an unspoiled wilderness. Study in the city's centre, on the harbour, or by the beach. The following are some of the featured locations: Sandy Bay- The Sandy Bay campus is five minutes south of the city centre, on the beach. This campus has a variety of on-site amenities and resources, many of which are located in the Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA) building on Churchill Avenue, in addition to purpose-built teaching and learning facilities. The Hedberg- One of Tasmania's most ambitious art installations to date is the Hedberg. The structure includes soundproof, digitally equipped rehearsal and practise rooms, an integrated multi-room recording suite, two main performance venues – the Recital Hall and the Salon – as well as sound stages and broadcast capabilities. Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS)- IMAS, which is located on Hobart's waterfront, combines Tasmania's strengths in marine and Antarctic studies into a single precinct, providing opportunities for collaborative research of state, national, and international significance. The structure houses world-class teaching and research facilities for approximately 300 students and faculty members. Medical Science Precinct- The Medical Science Precinct (MSP), located in the heart of Hobart CBD, houses research facilities for the university's Menzies Research Institute, the School of Medicine, and the Royal Hobart Hospital. Creative Arts Precinct- The thriving creative precinct brings together artists from the fields of Fine Arts, Design, Media, Music, and Theatre and Performance. The Plimsoll Gallery and Entrepôt, an art supply store, and a café are also located in the precinct. The Media School- The Media School, which is located in Salamanca, shares space with some of Hobart's most prominent media organisations. Students will rub shoulders with practitioners from news, communications, and other screen organisations.

Hobart campuses

Launceston is a vibrant city with a friendly, small-town atmosphere. The campuses provide hands-on learning in collaborative and creative environments. Its featured locations are as follows: Newnham- Newnham is a large campus that overlooks the beautiful Tamar River. It's also a short drive to the city centre of Launceston. Newnham, home to the Australian Maritime College, provides world-class marine simulation and teaching facilities. New Inveresk Precinct- The New Inveresk Precinct is currently under construction. It's an exciting new campus in Launceston that will be a vibrant hub for the University, community, schools, and businesses to connect and collaborate

Launceston campuses

The learning facilities of the University of Tasmania provide access to the magnificent North West, a region rich in outdoor adventure, cuisine trails, and an enviable coastal lifestyle. It's on the West Park waterfront campus in Burnie, which has been a hub of learning, cultural, and recreational activity for decades. Students will have the opportunity to engage in interactive learning in the university's immersive teaching rooms, socialise with their peers in social areas, and be a part of a thriving community precinct. The following are some of the featured locations- Other centres- The University of Tasmania also has a presence in several other locations throughout the North West and West Coast. The Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) Facility is located in the heart of South Burnie's industrial precinct. Mooreville Road is home to the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) and the Atrium Apartments. The Rural Clinical School (RCS) has two campuses, one in Burnie and the other in Latrobe. Makers' Workshop- Terroir, a Hobart-based architectural firm, completed the Makers' Workshop in West Park in 2009. The site is currently being reimagined as a vibrant new model that will continue to contribute to Burnie's life and energy.

Cradle Coast campuses

Nursing, paramedic, and health management education are all available at the University of Tasmania's Sydney campus, which works in collaboration with local hospitals and health service providers. The following are some of the featured locations- Rozelle campus- The Rozelle campus is part of the Callan Park Precinct and is located in Sydney's inner western suburbs, close to the Sydney CBD. The Rozelle campus, which opened in 2010, offers nursing and paramedic practice courses, the latter in collaboration with the NSW Ambulance Service. Darlinghurst Campus – The Darlinghurst campus, which opened in 2006, offers nursing, paramedic practice, and health management courses.
