Charles Darwin University (CDU) is an Australian public university with a main campus in Darwin and eight satellite campuses in some metropolitan and regional areas, established in 2003 after merger between Northern Territorial university, the Menzies School of Health Research and Centralian College. CDU is a dual-sector university that allows the university to offer vocational education and training aka VET courses as well as higher education undergraduate and postgraduate degrees which cover a wide range of subjects and disciplines. The university has five campuses and seven centres, with the main campus located in Casuarina, Darwin and the others are the Palmerston Campus, Katherine Campus, Alice Springs Campus and the Sydney Campus. As of 2020, the university has a total of 22,444 students, with 14,847 students enrolled in vocational and educational training courses and 12,343 enrolled in higher education degrees like the undergraduates, postgraduates, and professional students. Out of this total number of students, 15% were international students from 71 countries. The highest number of international students came from India, followed by Nepal and China, respectively. According to Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings of 2021, Charles Darwin University is ranked 501-600th in the world and 29th in Australia, it also ranks 101-150th in the world in the 2020 Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 making it the youngest university in Australia to make this list. In the 2019 Student Experience Survey, Charles Darwin University recorded an overall satisfaction rating of 75.2.

 

CDU has six colleges Asia Pacific College of Business and Law, College of Education, College of Engineering, IT and Environment, College of Health & Human Sciences, College of Indigenous Futures, Arts & Society, College of Nursing & Midwifery as well as Vocational Education and Training embedded within the Colleges. CDU is also a member of the group of seven Innovative Research Universities in Australia and offers academic degrees as well as vocational education. As well as being a member of the group of seven Innovative Research Universities in Australia, it has close links with Flinders University in South Australia, which itself has many students from the Northern Territory, including joint management of the Centre for Remote Health in Alice Springs and the Northern Territory Medical Program which is located on campus at Casuarina CDU. The university's research institutes and centres include the North Australian Centre for Oil and Gas, Menzies School of Health Research, the Northern Institute, Research Institute for Environment & Livelihoods

Katherine Student Accommodation (KSA) is owned and operated by Charles Darwin University (CDU) on its Katherine Rural campus and managed by International House Darwin (IHD). Its grounds are available for our guests' enjoyment, including a recreation room, dining room, sports oval and pool. The facilities are available to all residents whether living here on a short or long-term stay. The campus is located 16 kilometres north of Katherine's CBD in a rapidly developing mining, agricultural, horticultural and tourist region.
