The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a public research university located in the Australian state of South Australia, founded in 1991 after a merger between the South Australian Institute of Technology (SAIT, established in 1889 as the South Australian School of Mines and Industries) and the South Australian College of Advanced Education (SACAE, established 1856). UniSA has two main campuses in the Adelaide City centre, both on North Terrace, two metropolitan campuses at Mawson Lakes and Magil and two campuses in regional South Australia- Whyalla and Mount Gambier. UniSA also has offshore degree programs in collaboration with private institutions in Hongkong Baptist University and other higher education institutions throughout Asia. UniSA ranks among the world’s top universities, ranking in the World’s Top 50 Under 50- for universities which are under 50 years old, by both the QS World University Ranking in which it ranks 29, and in the Times Higher Education ranks 25. In 2015 in the Excellence in Research for Australia rankings, 97% of UniSA's research was rated at world class or above. In 2018, this was upgraded to 100% of UniSA's research at or above world class. UniSA offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has more than 31,000 students, coming from various parts of the world in search of higher education. 

 

The university campus is home to many research centres and the departments of business, law, management, commerce, architecture, pharmacy, and creative arts. It also features an open art gallery. UniSA ranks within the top 300 universities worldwide by the Research Institutes and is home to three institutes- Future Industries Institute (FII), the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science and the Centre for Cancer Biology. Additionally, it is also a founding member of the Australian Technology Network of universities, and is the largest university in South Australia with approximately 32,000 students.

 

The academic curriculum of the university consists of various subjects that are categorised into several schools, namely the School of Health Sciences, School of Art, Architecture and Design, School of Natural & Built Environment, School of Marketing, School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, School of Commerce, School of Law, School of Creative Industries, and School of Engineering. A modern campus in an area rich with history and culture Located in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, UniSA’s City East campus is home to our health-related programs. Bordered by the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and a short stroll from some of the city’s best eateries on Rundle Street, City East features the very latest in teaching and research facilities including the unique Horizon Hospital and Health Service. UniSA City East is home to many of our community clinics, which offer affordable healthcare to the general public. City East is easy to get to using Adelaide’s tram service or many bus routes. The Adelaide Railway Station is also within walking distance. Visit UniSA City East’s bright and modern spaces and enjoy the vibrant surroundings of Adelaide’s East End precinct.

A picturesque campus with industry-standard facilities Nestled within the lush foothills of Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, this picturesque campus is home to Australia’s most technologically advanced teacher training facility – the Samsung SMARTSchool. Located on 15 hectares of parklands, the campus contains grassy spaces and outdoor dining from food vendors Since I Met Harry and Mr Wuhu. UniSA Magill features industry-standard research laboratories and practical studios for students studying education, creative industries, psychology, social work, and human services. Established in 2005, University of South Australia's Mount Gambier campus is a reflection of an ongoing commitment to the region and the community. Our $12.5 million learning centre at Mount Gambier revolutionises our students' learning experiences. Our specialist teaching facilities for health and social work students, including patient bedrooms and treatment rooms modelled on facilities in the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and Mount Gambier Hospital, allows students to experience real world scenarios. Students experience flexible learning and quality teaching, with the benefits of a relaxed environment, practical learning opportunities, small class sizes, tailored support services and a strong community connection.

UniSA’s Mawson Lakes campus boasts contemporary, industry-standard teaching and research facilities for students studying STEM programs. The campus hosts several internationally recognised research institutes and centres, including the Future Industries Institute and the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (IVE), and enjoys collaborative links with high tech companies in the adjacent Technology Park.
